While both doulas and midwives support families during childbirth, their roles are different. A midwife is a licensed healthcare professional who provides medical care, monitors the health of mother and baby, and may deliver the baby. A doula does not provide medical care but focuses on emotional support, comfort techniques, education, advocacy, and helping families navigate their birth experience with confidence.
-
A doula can provide valuable emotional support during a cesarean birth by helping you feel calm, informed, and empowered. We also assist with comfort measures, emotional reassurance, and support bonding and infant feeding after birth, helping you create a positive and meaningful birth experience.
-
Not at all. Doulas support all birth experiences, including unmedicated births, epidurals, inductions, cesarean births, and VBACs (Vaginal Birth After Cesarean). Our role is to support your choices and provide compassionate care tailored to your unique journey.
